Swift County VINELink Coverage
The Minnesota Office of Justice Programs describes VINE as a free and anonymous custody-notification service for people held in county jails and detention facilities. Participating agency systems usually send updates every 15 or 30 minutes. A person may search through VINELink, use its mobile app, or call 1-877-664-8463. The phone service supports English, Spanish, Hmong, and Somali, with help for other languages.
Statewide coverage makes VINE a sensible place to check a Swift County Jail record. Yet the available official sources did not provide a Swift-specific agency listing that proves a live connection. First select Minnesota in VINELink and look for Swift County or the Swift County Jail in the current agency selector. If the facility is missing, call the jail at 320-843-3133. Do not state that Swift County participates based on the statewide description alone.

A “released” status means the reporting agency sent a release-related custody change. It does not by itself give the legal basis for release. It also does not rule out a transfer or new custody elsewhere. Swift County’s public arrest data can provide date, time, and legal basis for release, plus the receiving agency when the event was a transfer.
Register Swift County Release Notifications
Notification registration starts from the exact person’s record. This reduces the chance of attaching an alert to the wrong match. The official Minnesota fact sheet requires a PIN but does not establish one universal extra confirmation-code step. Follow any prompt shown in the live interface without assuming that all registrations use the same screen. For a lost PIN or registration problem, call the VINE Customer First Center at 1-866-277-7477.
Note: A PIN is needed to manage phone or email registration, so save it when the notification is created.
Swift Release Alerts: VINE or Haven
Minnesota’s notification split is crucial in Swift County. VINE serves participating county jails and detention facilities. It is not connected to MNDOC prisons. Minnesota Haven is the separate MNDOC program for prison custody, release, and community-supervision changes. A person booked at Swift County Jail may belong in VINE. Someone sentenced and moved into MNDOC custody needs Haven and the MNDOC Locator.
Haven can provide notice of prison custody changes, a 60-day release notice, conditional or final release, early-release programs, agent assignment, return to community supervision, and the end of supervised release. Its registration process is not the VINELink record-and-PIN flow. Haven generally sends email or U.S. mail. Its official page says phone notice is not approved except for escape from a Minnesota correctional facility. Contact 1-800-657-3830 to update details or ask about registration. The MNDOC Locator remains the place to check a public state status. Haven is the notice channel, not a broad public prison search.

The captured page helps identify the correct Minnesota service before a searcher moves to VINELink or calls the statewide line. It does not settle whether Swift County has an active agency feed today.

Swift County Release Record Check
A VINELink event and a Swift County release record answer different parts of the same question. The alert can provide prompt notice that the source agency changed a status. The public arrest record can state when Swift custody ended, why it ended, and whether another agency received the person. These details help the Sheriff match a request to the correct stay. Ask for the date, time, and legal basis for release from Swift County custody. If the event was a transfer, ask for its date, time, legal basis, and the receiving agency or person.
A court record may explain the order behind an exit, but it does not replace the jail’s physical release time. MNDOC Locator may establish that someone entered state custody or remained under state supervision. Neither source converts a VINE notice into proof of community return. Use each record for the event it was built to document.
Was the person freed when the alert arrived? Not always. The alert shows a reported change in the covered custody record. Another hold, transfer, or custodial destination may still apply, so the release and transfer fields remain the best local follow-up.
Confirm Swift County Release Alerts
VINE can lag behind the jail because it depends on agency data transmissions. The stated 15- or 30-minute cycle is typical, not a guarantee for each event. A person who has just left a facility may not appear with the new status at once. Conversely, a scheduled date can change before the actual exit.
Federal and immigration systems sit outside VINELink. The Federal Bureau of Prisons locator covers federal sentenced custody, while ICE has its own detainee locator. A federal pretrial detainee held for the U.S. Marshals Service may require contact with the holding facility or the federal case. None of those routes is a substitute for the Swift County Jail record.
For a local event, ask the Swift County data authority for the public release or transfer fields. Include the full name, booking number, and intake date when known. Request the release date, release time, legal basis, and receiving agency if transferred. That response can distinguish a community release from a move to another custodian.
